Mrs. Ashley Culwell
Artist Biography: I grew up in Prattville, Alabama, where I graduated from Prattville High School. Many of the reasons that I love art originated from memories and fun times throughout my four years at PHS. I had great teachers, but it was my very own high school art teacher and her love for art and her students that later inspired me to become an art teacher. Before I came to the realization that teaching art was the career for me, I pursued an Apparel Design and Studio Art degree from the Universtiy of Alabama, hoping to start a career in fashion design. Upon graduation, I worked in a bridal boutique, painted murals in elementary schools, and managed another retail store until getting married in 2011 and moving to Birmingham. I worked at a construction company as a Prequalification Coordinator for a couple of years, still painting murals when I was able, but still felt my creative energy was not being used at its fullest. I recently completed my Masters degree in Art Education and am thrilled to be fulfilling my life's purpose, being an art teacher! I look forward to the many years of working with students and hopefully instilling the very passion that I have for art and art history. There is so much to be experienced and created when you put creativity to the test! Like Albert Einstein said, "Creativity is intelligence having fun!"
